Teen Self-Awareness

I have always wanted to help educate the young ladies of our future, but I just never knew where to begin. I have experienced many obstacles in my life that have prevented me from starting this organiztion earlier, but in my heart I always knew this was my dream. 

I have dealt with unhealthy relationships my entire life. Growing up I was a ward of the county. My mother lost me when I was 6 years old, it was a long and hard journey. I never had anybody to show me how to cook, clean, no less teach me how to recognize the signs of an unhealthy relationship.  I was a teen mother by the age of 16, and in this relationship I was physically and mentally abused. 

No one understood why I loved him, or why I just couldn't walk away. What people in my life didn't realise is that I did not understand why I was allowing this man to treat me like in this manner. I went through many groups but I was usually the youngest. Unfortunately most people in those groups treated me like I was just a young girl, and my problems and feelings were not as relevant as everybody elses.  I remember thinking, how can this 40 year old woman understand what I am going through? That is why I wanted to start this group to give teens a chance to open up and see that they are not alone.

There are teens in your school, your neighborhood and even your family that have experienced some degree of abuse, or at least witnessed it. I want to hear from anybody who wants to share their story. Lets show our teens there are other ways!
